Arts Encounter Poem

Clients at the Centre along with Christine from the Arts Encounter programme from Island Art Centre made the poem about the Centre:

We love the Beeches

It’s the place to be

To catch up with friends

Where we can be creative and free

To think …..about, what we love, who we love, what we want to be.

To play …. The mouth organ

To play the piano like Phil Coulter

Or sing, a song ….about birds in the trees

Or waves crashing, us splashing into the sea

Now don’t break my heart, my achy, breaky heart

For we’re keeping her country!

I love country music,

Its rock and roll for me

I love the sound of the 80’s

Because I am the dancing queen, you see.

Well I like driving in my car

With my engine roaring…

Where would you like to go my lady?

To Golf links B&B or

Newcastle with yellow daffodils on your knee?

Don’t talk to me about travelling

I’d rather be home in bed

Because I’m a sleepy head that’s what

My mammy says to me

I love

The smell of soda farls

And sizzling sausages and a big cup of tea

No coffee

I love the smell of coffee, perfume, baby powder, fresh cut grass

No that’s not for me

Id rather a steak Sunday dinner

Now that would be yummy

We love the Beeches

It’s the place to be

To catch up with friends

Where we can be creative and free.
